DISC has continued its research seed funding program designed to incentivize trans-disciplinary, convergent research teams focused on tackling grand challenges. Seed funding allows OU researchers to incubate ideas with the potential for future extramural support.
Congratulations to the latest recipients of DISC Seed Funding:
Chenghao Wang, Ph.D., was awarded $10,000 for his project titled “Integrating Multiple Datasets to Develop a Historical Comprehensive Hourly Urban Weather Database (CHUWD) for Energy System Modeling.
Yong-Mi Kim, Ph.D., Sunny Kim, Ph.D., Suchismita Bhattacharjee, June Abbas, Ph.D., Sailatha Thomas, Ph.D., Pranay Kathuria, Ph.D., and Dr. Insung Kim, M.D., received $10,000 in seed money for their project titled “Asian Immigrants’ Diabetes Disparity.”
Annabel Ipsen, Ph.D., received $7,500 for her project titled “Essential yet Disposable: Confronting data challenges for studying refugee and immigrant workers during COVID-19.”
Jayash Paudel, Ph.D., Kim Klockow-McClain, Ph.D., and Justin E. Sharpe. Ph.D., won $7,500 for their project titled “Applying Micro-Level Data to Estimate the Economic Value of Hazard-Related Information.”
Ji Hwan Park, Ph.D., and Rakhi Rajan, Ph.D., were awarded $7,000 in seed funding for their project titled “Interactive Visual Analytics Framework for Identifying Unique Motifs in Cas9 Protein Sequences.”
