SMART

Social Media Analytics and Report Tool (SMART)

SMART is a graphical, web-based, user-friendly interface that allows end users to map, interactively explore, filter, and navigate large volumes of data by hiding the complexity of advanced algorithms. SMART enables users to visualize trends and anomalies in real-time geo-tagged social media data. Furthermore, SMART provides topic aggregation, natural language processing, and probabilistic event detection to analyze and refine the high volume of data.

SMART has been successfully deployed and used by first responders during several major events in the United States, including holiday celebrations, political conventions, the 2017 Presidential Inauguration, and multiple Presidential State of the Union events. Other events include monitoring several hurricanes and natural disasters by U.S. coast guards, movement patterns during rush hours, college-level football games, etc.

Currently, we are integrating real-time environmental monitoring with social media sensing targeted for the rapid and effective management of scenarios immediately following a terrorist attack with chemical and biological agents.
