DISC continues to provide research seed funding to incentivize trans-disciplinary, convergent research teams focused on tackling grand challenges. Seed funding allows OU researchers to incubate ideas with the potential for future extramural support.
Congratulations to the graduate student recipients of DISC Seed Funding for January 2023:
- Angela Rosellini-Labombarde and Ebone Smith received $2,500 in seed money for their project, “Synthesizing graduate student research with global climate science priorities.”
- Melissa Marquez, Himel Talukder, Ph.D., and Shu Sun, Ph.D., were awarded $2,410.95 for their project, “Urban Landscape: Eco-social interactions and park configurations influencing human exposure to ticks in Oklahoma City.”
Congratulations to the faculty recipients of DISC Seed Funding for January 2023:
- Daniel Becker, Ph.D., Amy McGovern, Ph.D., Eli Bridge, Ph.D., Jeff Kelly, Ph.D., and Jeremy Ross, Ph.D., received $10,000 in seed funding for their project, “Leveraging machine learning and weather radar to identify changes in bat migration and implications for pathogen dispersal.”
- Yihan Shao, Ph.D., was granted $10,000 for his project, “Towards a robust active learning workflow for machine learning assisted free energy simulation of enzyme reactions.”
