The English major is the home of writing. In tech, medicine, finance, law and more, writing is the skill employers want. In emails, memos, and presentations, your success depends on good communication. Clear and precise writers will always make an outstanding impression in applications and on the job. Your excellent writing tells employers that you can read, interpret, and respond to complex problems with precision and care.
Job requirements change constantly in many STEM fields. By the time STEM majors graduate college, the needs in their sector are already shifting. The English major doesn’t get hired for a disposable skillset. They get hired because their skills— critical thinking, analytic reading, clear writing, intellectual breadth, and persuasive communication—are always in demand. AI will only increase that demand. When employers look for professionals they can trust to communicate intelligently, they will turn to an English major.
