The OU Student Association of Graduates in English (SAGE) is an organization that provides professional, academic, and social opportunities for graduate students in the English department.
Everyone in an English graduate program is automatically a member of SAGE. SAGE fosters relationships between all graduate students, M.A. and PhD, in all branches of the department (Literary and Cultural Studies, Rhetoric and Writing Studies, and Creative Writing). SAGE also works to keep open communication between graduate students and faculty members to ensure successful mentorship opportunities.
Each semester, SAGE hosts professionalization workshops with faculty members that prepare students for academic and non-academic jobs. SAGE also hosts the annual SAGE Symposium, in which graduate students present their academic work as they prepare to attend conferences. SAGE also promotes camaraderie between graduate students through regular social events, including end-of-semester potlucks for grading, game nights, and crafting socials.
