A.S.I.A,
a student organization created
With
the number of international students decreasing in various
Asian organizations, something had to be done. The decrease,
is largely due to more students graduating from OU, then that
entering the community.
In
order to preserve an avenue for Asian students to reach out
to the OU community, A.S.I.A was created. It was created with
the asian student's interest in mind, and as such, A.S.I.A
actually stands for "Asian Student Interest Advocates".
Being
the new organization on "the block", A.S.I.A actively
promoted itself to the OU community. Who is A.S.I.A for? It
is really the organization, formed with the idea of uniting
Asian students and anyone who's interested in learning about
Asian cultures.
Unlike
other cultural organizations however, A.S.I.A plans
to promote their culture in a whole different way. It's
Asian alright, just not something which you are familar
with. Their first event lined up for the year, is the
Asian Fear Factor Food Challenge, to be held on the
28th of October, 7pm at Dale Hall Room 211. You think
you know Asian Food? Japanese, Mongolian, Chinese, we
have it all in the USA right? So you think. Some food
lined up on the menu includeds cockroaches, 100 year-old
egg, crickets and pig intestines. Watch the contestants
compete for the cash price of $400.
Watch
out for posters around campuses, or sign up for their
mailing list, to be informed about their upcoming activities!
