The Man with the Iron Stomach
28th October 2004, Dale Hall Room 211, 7pm

Bao Dinh (extreme right), winner of the AFFFC, stands with ASIA President, Freddie Sinsua, and Judge Jay Post.

The final showdown began the eve of Halloween Weekend. 24 contestants pitted against each other, eating food from a menu which included ant eggs, cockroaches, crickets, caterpillars, 100 year-old eggs, cow tongue, pig organs, durians, octopus and more.

Each new item placed in front of the remaining contestants had audience gripping onto their chairs, and cheering loudly for their friends on stage. At various stages, Emcees Tai Du, Claire and Gerado urged the audience to participate, by asking them which item the contestants should have to devour next. With each new item, more and more people got eliminated, till only two remained.

"Cockroach!" yelled the crowd, answering the question of what the final two contestants should eat next. With both being so close to the $400 cash prize, Bao Dinh and his competitor, Alex Vinh bit through the 4 cockroaches set in front of them.

When asked if he had a girlfriend, Dinh jokingly replied "Not after this."

As great as both of them had done so far, there could, but only be ONE winner. Thus, they faced the last challenge, of finishing a whole platter of food, containing items like octopus, an egg with a prematured chick, pig's ears and more.

The atmopshere was intensed, as both Vinh and Dinh chomped down their food. Bao Dinh, however, emerged the Victor. Alex shook his competitor's hand in good gesture, and Dinh walked away with a sore jaw, and $400 in Cash.
