The
Asian Student Interest Advocates, or A.S.I.A for short,
is currently organizing an event called the Asian Fear
Factor Food Challenge. This event will be held on 7pm
28th October, at Dale Hall room 211. This is
the first annual Asian Fear Factor Food Challenge, and
it is a social and cultural event, opened to all members
of the OU Community, where various authentic and exotic
Asian cuisines will be served.
This event will have a Fear Factor element, as most
of the cuisines featured are delicacies not common to
most people, although they are eaten by specific groups
of people from around the world. It is going to be a
challenge to actually eat the food. Examples of items
served are 100 year-old-egg, chicken feet, beef tripe
and bitter gourd. Participation is opened to all OU
students, and by all, we mean all.
The
Dishes
As strange as the dishes may look or sound, there are
two facts that might be of some comfort to you. All
food served in this competition, are eaten by some people,
somewhere in the world. We'll introduce the food and
its origins before each food is consumed. Also, all
food served, can be purchased in the Asian Supermarket
in Oklahoma City. Rest assure that no stray creatures
from Norman are being harmed in this competition. Please
note however, that all food that will be served that
night, will be non-halal.
Are You "THE ONE" with the iron stomach?
To the brave soul out there, we dare you, to take up
this challenge. $400
in cash prize awaits the one who outwits, outruns and
outlasts the rest. Cost to join this competition, is
a mere $5, which will be due on the day of the event
and applicants are given 5 free tickets for supporters
to attend. Applications can be picked up at the Center
for Student Life, 3rd floor, OMU or download here.
