The OU-TU School of Community Medicine Department of Emergency Medicine (OUDEM) residency program is the only allopathic Emergency Medicine residency in Oklahoma, training 9 residents per year over a three-year program. Our devoted faculty are experts in the field of Emergency Medicine including specialization in EMS, ultrasound, critical care, leadership and administration, research, social emergency medicine, disaster medicine, and more. Residents are based at Hillcrest Medical Center, but also rotate in the EDs and on off-service rotations at St. John Medical Center and Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa. We also offer longitudinal rotations at the rural Muscogee Creek Nation Medical Center in Okmulgee, and the Pediatric Emergency Department at OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City.
The size of Tulsa and the ease of commuting mean that all three primary sites are convenient to the OU medical campus, and inclusion of three hospitals affords the residents chances to rotate on specialized services emphasized at a particular institution (e.g., Burn Center, Trauma Center).
