David Kendrick, MD, MPH, FACP

David Kendrick, MD, MPH

Dr. David Kendrick is the principal investigator and CEO of MyHealth Access Network, Oklahoma’s non-profit health information network, which ensures that every Oklahoman’s complete health record is securely available where and when they need it for care and health decision-making. 

Dr. Kendrick is the immediate past chair of the Board of Directors for the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA), which developed the first comprehensive quality measurement programs with HEDIS, as well as certification programs for Patient Centered Medical Homes and Specialty Care. Dr. Kendrick is also a member of the board of the Patient Centered Data Home program and previously served on both the boards of the Strategic HIE Collaborative and the Networks for Regional Health Improvement before their recent merger to become the Civitas Networks for Health. Dr. Kendrick served as the Senior Counsel for Interoperability to National Health IT Coordinator, Dr. Karen DeSalvo, and continues to serve as a consultant to the Office of the National Coordinator as well as CMS and other state and federal agencies.

Blake Lesselroth, MD, MBI

Blake Lesselroth

Dr. Lesselroth is an Internal Medicine physician, clinician-educator, and applied informatician. He received his undergraduate degree in Anthropology at University of California at Los Angeles and his medical degree at Tulane School of Medicine.  He completed a residency in internal medicine at Oregon Health Sciences University (OHSU) and continued as a Medical Informatics Fellow, obtaining a Master’s Degree in Biomedical Informatics (MBI).  He remained at OHSU and the VA for 15 years as a teaching hospitalist, informatics department manager, fellowship site director, and Principle Investigator for a VA Patient Safety Center of Inquiry. Dr. Lesselroth is board-certified in internal medicine (ABIM) and clinical informatics (ABPM) and has a certification in human-computer interactions research (UXC).

Dr. Lesselroth joined the Medical Informatics faculty at the University of Oklahoma-Tulsa School of Community Medicine (OU-TU SCM) in 2019.  He is also adjunct faculty at the University of Victoria, British Columbia School of Health Information Science.  In his current role, Dr. Lesselroth manages a portfolio consisting of human-computer interactions research, medical informatics education, health-systems quality improvement, and clinical service delivery. He is a Co-Director of the Medical Informatics elective at OU-TU SCM and Co-Director of the Health Systems Science in Practice course for the College of Medicine and the Physicians Assistants Program.  His areas of expertise include decision support systems, quality improvement, human-computer interactions, user experience, telemedicine, and implementation and dissemination science.

Juell Homco, PhD, MPH

Juell Homco, MPH

Dr. Homco is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medical Informatics at the OU-TU School of Community Medicine in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Dr. Homco’s research interests involve using epidemiologic methods to understand the impact of advanced health information technology on healthcare utilization, clinician behavior, and population health. Her current work focuses upon performance measure validity and the use of healthcare data to investigate care gaps in populations and health service delivery. She leads the Department’s community analytics and research teams. These teams are responsible for providing advanced data analytics support to the OU Health Physicians-Tulsa clinics, the Oklahoma Primary Healthcare Improvement Cooperative (OPHIC), the Sooner Health Access Network (HAN), and numerous multidisciplinary researchers across Oklahoma. Prior to working at the University of Oklahoma, Dr. Homco served as the Health Planner for the Tulsa City-County Health Department. In this role, she authored the Tulsa County Health Profile 2010.  She frequently analyzed data through local, state, and national databases to identify community needs and health trends.  

Dr. Homco completed her PhD in Epidemiology at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. She received her MPH from Saint Louis University with a concentration in epidemiology and biostatistics.

Wato Nsa, MD, PhD

Dr. Nsa is an epidemiologist, biostatistician, and physician, specializing in quality of care and patient safety. In this role, he explores how information technology contributes to better quality of care, not only for individual patients but also for the whole community. Prior to joining OU, Dr. Nsa was the Director of Analytics at the Oklahoma Foundation for Medical Quality (OFMQ). He worked primarily in the development and maintenance of clinical quality performance measures, the coordination of clinical quality improvement projects at the national level, interacting with all 50 states and Territories, and the monitoring and evaluation of major national healthcare programs for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).

Dr. Nsa earned his undergraduate degree in Biomedical Sciences and his MD at the University of Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), formerly known as Zaire. After completing a clinical residency in Pediatrics at Mama Yemo Hospital in Kinshasa, DRC, Dr. Nsa was recruited by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to work on the HIV/AIDS epidemic in Africa. He was among the pioneers in HIV/AIDS research during the early years of the epidemic, particularly in the area of mother-to-child transmission of HIV. He later moved to the United States to pursue a Master’s Degree in Public Health and a PhD in Epidemiology and Biostatistics from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in Oklahoma City. 

Dr. Nsa has co-authored 28 scientific publications in peer-reviewed medical journals in collaboration with clinical scientists from academic institutions and healthcare organizations.

Charles A. Tryon, MSKM

Chuck Tryon, MSKM

Mr. Tryon serves as the project manager for the Oklahoma Primary Healthcare Improvement Cooperative (OPHIC).  In that role, he managed the AHRQ-funded EvidenceNOW: Healthy Hearts for Oklahoma (H2O) and Do No Harm: Pain and Opioid Management, in partnership with the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services.

Prior to joining OU, Mr. Tryon spent 30 years as a full-time consultant and seminar leader in the topics of Project Management, Knowledge Management and Process Design.  He is the author of two books, Managing Organizational Knowledge: 3rd Generation Knowledge Management and Beyond and Project Identification: Capturing Great Ideas to Dramatically Improve Your Organization, both published by Taylor and Francis’ CRC Press.  He teaches graduate courses in Knowledge Management and Project Management for the Organizational Dynamics program at OU-Tulsa.

He received his B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Tulsa and M.S. in Knowledge Management from the University of Oklahoma.

Jim Craddock, MBA

Chuck Tryon, MSKM

With more than 25 years of experience in the areas of software development and data analytics, Mr. Craddock was the 2nd employee hired into Tulsa's Medical Informatics group.  He started his career in the Oil industry before returning to school and later moving to Tulsa to start a career in software development.  Since 2002, he has enabled OU-Tulsa's staff, faculty, students, and residents in their system development needs. A trailblazer for OU in the Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence space, Mr. Craddock also works directly with students and residents to spread the knowledge of informatics.  In his current role of Manager of Healthcare Data Analytics, Mr. Craddock leads a team of developers developing applications and analytics in support of the School of Community Medicine in Tulsa, the Sooner Health Access Network, and the Medical Informatics Department.

Mr. Craddock earned his undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering and MBA from the University of Oklahoma.

R. Matthew Atkins, MD, FACP

Sarah McClanahan, DO

In his role as CMIO, Dr. Atkins oversees the physician informatics and business intelligence missions of OU Health. He has specific research interests in using machine learning to predict clinical risk and outcomes.

Dr. Atkins received his medical degree from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. He completed his residency in internal medicine at Duke University Health System. He then served as the Chief Resident for Quality and Safety at Duke Health and the Durham VA Medical Center. He is board certified in Internal Medicine through the ABIM and Clinical Informatics through the ABPM.

Nancy R. Inhofe, MD


Dr. Inhofe is a board-certified Pediatrician with over 20 years of clinical experience in the evaluation and management of children with asthma.  She has been a sub-investigator of the WIND Study since 2012, a multicenter prospective cohort study of the future development of asthma in children with severe bronchiolitis in infancy.  Her quality improvement research involves development of an asthma decision support tool within EMR to support physicians at point of care.  Dr. Inhofe is collaborating with Sooner HAN as Asthma Intervention Specialist to provide standard of care asthma tools and consultation to community physicians caring for difficult to control asthma patients and their families.  

Dr. Inhofe received her BS in Psychology from Duke University and MD from the University of Missouri.

Melissa Van Cain, MD, MBI

Melissa Van Cain, MD, MBI

Dr. Van Cain is a graduate of the Clinical Informatics Fellowship at Boston Children’s Hospital where she received a Masters in Biomedical Informatics from Harvard Medical School and worked clinically as an attending in the Department of Pediatrics. As an informaticist, she uses data and informatics principles to improve the healthcare delivery system and the lives of our patients. In her role as Associate Chief Medical Informatics Officer for OU Health, she serves as a liaison between clinicians and the information technology team to improve the design and implementation of the electronic health record. Dr. Van Cain also holds leadership positions with the American Medical Informatics Association and the Council on Clinical Information Technology of the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Dr. Van Cain received her BS in Mechanical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and MD from Weill Cornell Medical College. She completed her General Pediatrics residency at the Children’s Hospital of Montefiore in the Bronx, NY.

Christopher L. Williams, MD

Sarah McClanahan, DO

Dr. Williams is the Director of Informatics for the Department of Pathology and serves as Medical Director of the Family Medical Center and Stephenson Cancer Center Laboratories for OU Health. In his role of Director of Informatics, Dr. Williams guides the implementation process for new laboratory projects, champions quality initiatives, and works with the enterprise to improve laboratory information utilization. He is also interested in the human-EMR interface and how workflows influence patient safety and staff satisfaction.

 

Dr. Williams received his BS and MS in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Oklahoma State University. He completed his medical degree and Pathology residency at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center and went to a Pathology Informatics Fellowship at the University of Michigan. He is boarded in Clinical Pathology and Clinical Informatics through the ABP.
