Course Introduction

Welcome!

from Dr. Connie Dillon

Welcome to the University of Oklahoma's EDAH 5403 Introduction to Instructional Telecommunications. This web site is for students planning to enroll in this course through the University of Oklahoma. If you are not enrolled and would like information on this course you may contact me at CDillon@ou.edu.  If you would  like information on the University of Oklahoma, or on graduate programs visit OU's College of Education.

This course is designed as a web-based, on-line course.  Thus the course will be taught entirely at a distance.  This means that you will not physically meet with the instructor or other students during the class.

You will have one textbook for the course.  The rest of the readings will be available through this website or another given location on the World Wide Web.

Through this website you will be able to:

  • Interact with the other students and with me, your instructor, and our teaching assistant throughout the course
  • Access readings (with the exception of your text), assignments, web-based lectures and other electronic resources
  • Access the University of Oklahoma Library homepage for document delivery, electronic reserve, and interlibrary loan
  • Turn in assignments to your instructor
  • Participate in class discussion

IMPORTANT NOTICE:  This course is offered at a distance so that you do not have to be at a designated place at specific times.  However, the course is paced, that is, you will be expected to follow the schedule.  Your performance in this class depends largely upon your ability to stay on task, complete all the assignments and readings, and participate in all activities.

You have just finished reading the "introduction". After reading the sections "objective", "requirements", "policies", and "topics", you will have the proper basis for making the decision to take this course. If you plan to take the course you must be admitted to the university and then complete the "sign-up form". Once you are properly admitted and complete the sign-up form, I will then send you the study area password.

The textbook for the course is:

M.G. Moore and Kearsley, G. 1996. Distance Education: A Systems View. San Francisco: Wadsworth.

(Other required readings will be available online)

If you are not enrolled and would like information on this course, on the University of Oklahoma, or on graduate programs visit OU’s College of Education. I would also encourage you to visit the home page for the Adult and Higher Education program.

Your professor, Dr. Connie Dillon, maintains the intellectual content of this course EDAH 5403.
