OU Health Stephenson Cancer Center Expanding to Tulsa to Serve Northeast Oklahoma

OU Health Stephenson Cancer Center today announced its expansion to the University of Oklahoma-Tulsa, marking a significant milestone in providing access to research-driven cancer care to northeastern Oklahoma residents. As the state’s sole National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated cancer center, Stephenson Cancer Center's expansion will offer local patients unparalleled access to advanced cancer treatments and hundreds of innovative clinical trials for multiple cancers.

Researchers Discover Cell ‘Crosstalk’ That Triggers Cancer Cachexia

New research from the University of Oklahoma reveals a previously unknown chain of events sparking the development of cancer cachexia, a debilitating muscle-wasting condition that almost always occurs in people diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. The research, led by Min Li, Ph.D., a professor in the OU College of Medicine, is published in the journal Cancer Cell.

Two OU Researchers Named Fellows of Esteemed Science Association

Two researchers from the University of Oklahoma have been named Fellows of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. Bonnie Pitblado, Ph.D., and Jeffrey Kelly, Ph.D., are part of the 2023 class of fellows to the world’s largest scientific society.

OU Engineering Leads $1.8M Project for Military Efficiency

Li Song, Ph.D., a mechanical engineering professor at the University of Oklahoma, has received a $1.18 million grant from the Department of Defense to design a system for simultaneous heating and cooling demands at military installations, with the goal of enhancing efficiency and reliability.

OU Max Westheimer Airport Receives $36.5 Million for Improvements

April 03, 2024

University of Oklahoma leaders and Congressman Tom Cole (OK-04) celebrated the recent funding to support improvements to the Max Westheimer Airport in Norman. Renovations include extending and strengthening the runway, developing a new taxiway and adding hangar space to accommodate OU’s growing aviation school and increased airport traffic. The improvements will also create safer ingress and egress passageways.

Startup OU, a program of the Tom Love Innovation Hub at the University of Oklahoma’s Price College of Business, has received a $1.9 million grant from the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration to expand its entrepreneurial programs.
