HEATHER CHANCELLOR MCINTOSH, MS, CRA
Program Manager
Heather Chancellor McIntosh manages the Office for Research Development and Scholarly Activity and serves as a research statistician. She provides project development, research study design, and statistical analysis support as well as assists in the publication process to faculty and staff in an effort to promote the research mission of OUSCM. Heather also directs the research component of OUSCM Summer Internship for medical and undergraduate students.
Heather is a certified research administrator (CRA) and has expertise in project development, grant award compliance guidelines, and creating budgets. She received her master’s degree in educational psychology with an emphasis on research, evaluation, measurement, and statistics at Oklahoma State University.
SARAH BETH BELL, PHD
Staff Scientist
Sarah Beth Bell is a social psychologist whose research lines include adverse childhood experiences, bias and discrimination, loneliness, and social determinants of health. She highly values student-centered learning and prioritizes collaborating with medical students on her research projects. She also has a wide array of quantitative statistical skills and is committed to transparency and openness in her analyzes. Sarah Beth and a medical student co-lead a student interest group on research related to structural inequality. In this group, a cohort of students collaborates on a research project while she provides immersive and intensive training on the research process. She is funded on a variety of projects related to social/emotional health and wellbeing.
GINGER SUTTON, MA
Grant Coordinator
Ginger Sutton is a project coordinator serving as a grant coordinator in the Office for Research Development and Scholarly Activity. She provides specialized, technical assistance and staff support in identifying funding opportunities and in preparing and processing grant applications and project funding for local, state, and federal grants for faculty in the School of Community Medicine and College of Public Health. Ginger has expertise in project management, knowledge management, and research development.
She received her master’s degree in Organizational Dynamics with an emphasis in project management and human resource management from the University of Oklahoma.
AMY ABERCROMBIE (HOWE), MPA
Project Coordinator
Amy Abercrombie is a program administrator serving as a project coordinator within the Office for Research Development and Scholarly Activity. She provides specialized project assistance and task support to faculty, staff, and students in the School of Community Medicine and College of Public Health, including IRB processing and developing technical solutions for project management. Amy also acts as coordinator of ORDSA's annual research events.
Amy earned her master's degree in Public Administration with an emphasis in non-profit managment and public policy from the University of Oklahoma. She also received two graduate certificates in Organizational Dynamics, focusing on project management and human resource management.
NICK HOLLMAN, MPH
Research Biostatistician
Nick Hollman is a research biostatistician for the Office for Research Development and Scholarly Activity. Nick recently completed his Master of Public Health in Biostatistics at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. Before joining ORDSA, he worked as a graduate research assistant and biostatistician for the College of Public Health conducting analyses for several community-based research projects. He provides research methodology assistance and statistical analysis support to aid faculty and staff in their research projects.
MARTINA JELLEY, MD, MSPH, FACP
Assistant Dean for Clinical Research
Dr. Jelley is currently an associate professor and the Vice Chair for Research in the Department of Internal Medicine. She received her M.D. from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, followed by an internal medicine residency at OU in Tulsa. Dr. Jelley then completed a fellowship in general internal medicine and received her Master of Science in Public Health at the University of Colorado, Denver.
Dr. Jelley has served as chair of the OUHSC Institutional Review Board (Research Ethics) since 2002. She served as interim chair of the department of internal medicine from 2013 to 2015. Dr. Jelley has research interests in health effects of violence and abuse, smoking cessation, women’s health and preventive medicine. Her recent work has been in teaching primary care residents how to address the effects of adverse childhood experiences in their adult patients using simulation.
NASIR MUSHTAQ, MBBS, PHD
Faculty Biostatistician
Nasir Mushtaq, MBBS, PhD, is the George Kaiser Family Foundation Chair in Public Health Epidemiology and an Assistant Professor at the Department of Biostatistics and Epidemiology. Dr. Mushtaq received his doctorate in Epidemiology and a master of public health degree at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. He also holds a medical degree and completed his medical training in Pakistan.
Dr. Mushtaq has consistently been providing epidemiological and statistical support to faculty and resident research projects at different clinical departments of the School of Community Medicine. These projects range from clinical research and clinical practice improvement projects to community based research.
He teaches graduate level epidemiology courses at the College of Public Health and a research skills course for medical students at the School of Community Medicine. In addition to teaching graduate level courses, he is involved in the research training of medical residents and fellows. His primary research areas of interest include tobacco control, health disparities, and collaborative clinical research.
KENT TEAGUE, PHD
Associate Dean for Research
T. Kent Teague, PhD is the Associate Dean for Research for the School of Community Medicine. He also serves as the Assistant Vice President for Research for OU-Tulsa. Dr. Teague is a biomedical researcher who specializes in studying the effects of psychosocial stress and chronic inflammation on the immune system and the downstream effects on health. He is a Professor in the Department of Surgery and an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Psychiatry. He holds the George Kaiser Family Foundation Chair in Community Medicine Research.
He earned a PhD in Immunology from the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in 1995 and completed a postdoctoral fellowship in the field of immunology at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute in Denver in 1999. He joined the OU College of Medicine in 2000 where he directs the OU-Tulsa Integrative Immunology Center. Dr. Teague is also an adjunct faculty member of the OU College of Pharmacy and the OSU Center for Health Sciences in Tulsa.
