Military match -- check deadlines

June - August 2024

Research residency training programs through Careers in Medicine,  AMA's FREIDA or the ACGME.

NON-ERAS applications should be sent to programs prior to their stated deadline.  Each program sets its own deadlines.

Arrange to have faculty letters of recommendation written and submitted through ERAS website.

 

June 1, 2024

San Francisco match for ophthalmology and plastic surgery- Central Application Service (CAS) registration opens.

 

June 2024

Electronic Residency Application (ERAS) tokens issued. Registration for ERAS opens for all applicants.

 

June 2024

Registration for Urology Residency Match opens

 

June-August 2024

Finish CV and personal statement.  Samples available on Optimal Resume and Careers in Medicine Website. 

Mock Interviews are available in the OU-Tulsa Student Affairs office.  Contact lcondry@ou.edu to set up.

 

May 1 - June 10, 2024

Submit your MSPE Form (updated form coming soon)

 

June-July 2024

Meet with the Associate Dean regarding your Dean’s letter.  This appointment will be set up using the MSPE form. 

 

September 2024 

 ERAS Post office opens for applicants, schools and programs to submit and receive applications.

Read over MSPE to identify any factual errors. Return to SCM Student Services Office by no later than September 15. 

National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) information and registration available online.  Everyone except Oral Surgery students must join the match. 

Submit ERAS application on September 15

 

September 15, 2024 

National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) registration opens..  Match Calendar 2023 (2024 not yet available)

 

October 1, 2024  (tentative)

MSPEs are sent through the ERAS post office to the programs.

 

 November 30, 2024     (tentative)

NRMP registration deadline.  Late fee applies afterwards.

 

Sept - Nov 2024

Set up Interviews.  Respond quickly to invites, many programs fill their spots on first come first served basis. 

 

December 2024      

Results of military matches/deferments announced.

 

Oct 2024 – Jan 2024 

Interviews.  Go on as many as possible.  Aim for a minimum of 12. (More for some specialties) 

 

January 2025        

Rank order lists due for ophthalmology and urology.  Check for specific dates.

Early match students are advised to register with NRMP if (1) a PGY-1 year is needed and (2) as a parallel plan.

Applicants and programs begin entering NRMP rank order list (ROL).

 

February 2025

Deadline for Applicants and Programs to enter Rank order lists on the NRMP- R3 web page

 

March 2025

SOAP and Match specific times are estimated based on previous years. The 2024 Official SOAP Schedule has not yet been released.

Monday, March 17, 2025

11am.     Students notified whether they matched or did not match.

12 p.m.     Programs will begin receiving SOAP applications through ERAS. SOAP-eligible applicants can send applications only to unfilled Match-participating programs. Program-initiated communication between applicants and programs may begin, but no offers or commitments allowed.

11:30 a.m.      Residency programs begin entering preference lists.

Wednesday, March 19, 2025

11:55 a.m. Residency programs finalize first round offers.

Noon      First-round offers sent by residency programs to applicants.

2 p.m.     First offers from residency programs to applicants expires.

2:55 p.m.  Residency programs update preference lists.

3 p.m.     Second-round offers sent by residency programs to applicants.

5 p.m.     Second offers from residency programs to applicants expires.

Thursday, March 20, 2025

9 a.m.   Offers extended every three hours beginning at 9:00 a.m. with last offers valid 3:00 - 5:00 p.m., using same update schedule noted on Wednesday .

Friday, March 21, 2025

MATCH DAY! Results of NRMP are announced at 11:00 a.m. CST.  Match Day celebration with your class.  

 

March - April 2025       

Programs send letters of appointment to matched students.
