Catalyst Program for Pre-Meds

Welcome to the official University of Oklahoma Catalyst webpage!
Catalyst is a program designed to equip and to empower pre-meds on their journey to medical school. We offer one-on-one mentoring, MCAT preparation assistance, workshops with hands-on simulations and activities, and so much more to students across Oklahoma.
Stay up to date with all things Catalyst! Follow us on Facebook and Instagram.
Mentorship is the heart of Catalyst. Pre-med students apply for mentorship annually and are matched with a medical student if one is available. Mentors and mentees are matched in September, and the relationship is expected to continue through August of the following year. However, mentorships may last well beyond this. The mentorship can be whatever each mentor-mentee pair wants it to be! The expectation is that medical students will reach out to their mentees once a month to offer advice on applying to medical school, including preparing for the MCAT, completing the AMCAS application, and practicing for interviews.
Mentee applications have closed for the 2026-2027 academic year. Complete the interest form HERE to be added to the Catalyst mailing list and to be notified when mentee applications open for 2027-2028.
Catalyst Workshop Schedule
Catalyst workshops offer a combination of in-person and virtual sessions. Hosted by current medical students and guest speakers, these workshops include informative sessions about a variety of topics (MCAT, application cycle, stress management), hands-on simulations, skills practice, and a place for pre-meds to ask questions of current medical students. Registration opens at the beginning of each month. (Zoom links will be emailed for virtual workshops.)
Pre-Med day is a FREE event for undergraduate students that involves many exciting components, such as an engaging keynote speaker, opportunities to learn about how socioeconomic factors impact health, resources on preparing for the MCAT, a sneak peek into medical school with guest lectures on subjects in anatomy and physiology, as well as numerous hands-on simulation activities, like suturing and ultrasound.
At this time, attendees must be 18 or older to attend.
Our next Pre-Med Day event will be October 24th, 2026! Catalyst Interest List members will be notified as soon as registration opens. Information will also be posted on our socials @ou_scm.
MCAT Assist is a resource program that is targeted at pre-med students who will be taking the MCAT within the next six months. This program offers Kaplan set checkouts, access codes to practice exams, and annual proctored mock exams to help students feel prepared for test day.
NEW THIS YEAR! We now offer a MCAT scholarship program. If chosen, you receive a Kaplan live online course. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis and the QR code to apply can be found in the flyer below.
To be considered for these free resources, pre-med students must complete the intake process to be matched with appropriate materials.
Taking the MCAT soon? We’re here to help. Fill out the MCAT Assist interest form and we’ll reach out to you!
