OU School of Community Medicine Admissions
The OU School of Community Medicine MD program is an integrated track within the OU College of Medicine.
Applying to the SCM track follows the OU College of Medicine admissions process. Here’s what you need to do:
- Apply through AMCAS (American Medical College Application Service) and indicate your interest in the SCM track.
- If invited to complete a secondary, complete the OU College of Medicine Secondary Application, including the SCM section.
- SCM applicants will be reviewed and may be invited for an additional interview with the SCM Admissions Committee.

Application Timeline
Applications for admission to the College of Medicine are processed through the American Medical College Application Service (AMCAS). The application is an electronic application and is located on the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) website. The deadline for filing an application with AMCAS is October 15th. Supplemental application deadline is November 1.
Suggested Timeline
- Begin application one year in advance of desired matriculation
- Latest MCAT accepted is from September of application year
- AMCAS Application submitted by August 15th
- Supplemental Application submitted by September 1st
- Interviews are conducted fall/winter prior to matriculation
- SCM applicants will complete an OU College of Medicine interview and additional SCM interview for candidates fit within the SCM Track.
Prerequisite Course Requirements
- General Zoology/ Biology with Lab -1 semester
- General Chemistry -2 semesters
- Organic Chemistry -2 semesters
- Physics -2 semesters
- Genetics, Cellular Biology or Molecular Biology (your choice) -1 semester
- English -2 semesters
- Psychology, Sociology, Philosophy, or Humanities (any combination) -3 semesters
In addition, it is recommended that applicants take the following courses:
- Biochemistry
- A writing-intensive English course

Minimum Requirements
- Applicants must be U.S citizens or hold a permanent visa
- GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Letter grade of C or better required in prerequisite courses
- Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) - 492
- Recommendation Letters: 1 premed committee + 1 faculty letter or 3 faculty letters
The students gaining admission in 2025 had an average GPA of 3.79 and an average MCAT score of 511.
