Camp Crimson

For more than 25 years, OU has hosted Camp Crimson, an orientation experience designed to assist undergraduate students as they transition into their first year at the University of Oklahoma.

Camp Crimson is a 5-Day orientation experience that gives students the opportunity to connect with their new OU community. These days will be packed with engaging activities that will allow students to connect with their peers, get to know campus, learn about OU's history and traditions, complete their first-year trainings, connect with faculty and staff, and attend many amazing events.

CRIMSON WINTER WELCOME

New Student Programs newest tradition begins with our first annual Crimson Winter Welcome. Taking inspiration from Camp Crimson, a long-standing OU tradition, Crimson Winter Welcome will be an orientation experience designed to welcome students joining the University of Oklahoma in January.

Crimson Winter Welcome is a 2-day experience where students can expect to connect with peers as well as meet current students, staff, and faculty. There will be informational sessions and engaging activities that will help students explore campus, build a community, and start their year off right!

All incoming freshman who are admitted for next fall are welcome to Start Sooner. Take 6 hours of class and jumpstart your Sooner experience!

Start Sooner is the University of Oklahoma's premiere early start program designed for incoming OU first-year students. Since 2016, our month-long program has allowed students to get ahead in their coursework, get to know campus early, and build a community going into their OU experience.

Crimson Commitment

Students who are attending the University of Oklahoma for the first time are invited to attend monthly symposiums specially designed for Crimson Commitment students. During these symposiums, students connect with their peers, participate in a mentoring program, connect with campus resources, and hear from the MoneyCoaches on a regular basis. Symposiums are a wonderful way for students to meet one another and to grow a deeper connection within the University of Oklahoma. After their first year involved with symposiums, Crimson Commitment participants may apply to become a peer mentor and help foster the same encouraging environment for the next year’s class of students.

Class Council

Established in 2011, Class Council was created with the intention to serve and unite each class at the University of Oklahoma. Class Council members act as class ambassadors to provide outlets and opportunities for students to engage in the campus culture through social and educational programming.

Class Council was developed as a retention initiative by the Graduation Office to engage students in social opportuinites across the OU's campus. Class Council was moved under the Division of Student Affairs in 2019. Since then, Class Council has collaborated with with various on-campus organizations to facilitate peer-to-peer connections that allow students to find a sense of belonging within their class and the university as a whole, aligning with the mission of Student Affairs.
