Application Open February 14, 2025. Deadline April 25, 2025

The Arts & Humanities Forum announces a new opportunity for exchanges among arts and humanities faculty at OU around their research or creative activity. The Faculty Colloquia will sponsor research and/or creative activity presentations that showcase and support the development of faculty research and creative activity. The Colloquia aim to foster intellectual community, broaden disciplinary perspectives, and create collegial collaboration through organized discussions around presentations of faculty and graduate student research and creative activity. The Forum aims to support 2-3 Faculty Colloquia for the 2024-2025 academic year.

For this program, a group of 6-10 OU faculty members will propose a research or creative activity theme. The main organizer should be a member of the Regular Faculty. Throughout the 2024 – 2025 academic year, the group will meet monthly to present and discuss their research or creative activity, in the form of talks and performances. The group will set the schedule for the meetings, which should provide opportunities for presentation to all interested colloquium members. The expectation is that groups will meet around 8 times over the course of the academic year.

Groups must comprise members from more than one department/unit on campus. They must be organized around a broad topical focus. Examples of colloquia topics might coalesce around regional or linguistic themes (e.g. Francophone World Workshop), fields of study (e.g. Decolonial Studies), or broad topics (e.g. Performing Nationalism). The choice of theme is wide open; each group should articulate the coherence of their theme and its significance to the members of the group and the broader research/creative activity community.

Selected colloquia groups will receive $1,200, of which $200 will compensate the time of the colloquium organizer. The remaining $1,000 can be used as the group sees fit to provide refreshments for colloquium gatherings, to invite a speaker/performer from another institution, etc.

Applications must be submitted by email to humanities.forum@ou.edu by 4/26/2024 at Noon.

Each group should consist of 6 – 10 participants, inclusive of the group organizer.

The group must be organized by an OU Regular Faculty member (Tenured, Tenure-track, or Ranked Renewable Term) in the humanities, arts, or interpretive social sciences. However, in the spirit of fostering a rich intellectual community at OU, group members can include non-regular faculty, lecturers, adjunct faculty, graduate students, advanced undergraduate students, and (in some cases) OU staff.

Participants must be drawn from at least two different departments.

Faculty may only apply with one colloquium group each academic year.

Proposals must use a font of 11 points or larger. Page margins should be 1” on all four sides. Line spacing must not be smaller than 1.5 lines. Please be certain that you have included all required components, in order. Late or incomplete applications will be disqualified from consideration.
