While many of our UWC students are pursuing professional programs (such as engineering, architecture, business and journalism – all very popular options), there are over 170 degree programs from which applicants may choose. Currently enrolled Davis Scholars are also majoring in areas such as international studies, natural sciences, journalism, languages, fine arts and so much more. Many choose to pursue double majors, a combination of major and minors and pursue dual degrees.
A student may change their major after enrolling and most students make a final decision regarding their major within their first year at OU. Davis Program and OU funding may be applied to any degree program offered.
Yes, double majors and minors are a great option for students who want to add range or additional specialization to their degree or for those who wish to study complementary fields. UWC students may double major and add on minors with no added cost as long as they are completed within the four year time frame of the OU UWC scholarship. Before making a final decision, it is always best to consult with our UWC Scholars Program staff.
Although double majors and minors are possible, it is important to note that for some programs it would be difficult to add a second major. For example, the engineering programs have demanding curriculums so it is difficult to fit in the course requirements for another major. A minor might be more feasible if you are set on including another field of study.
Usually it is easiest to double major within the same college, for example, Finance and International Business; or if they are complementary, like International Studies and Spanish. There are 170 majors to choose from at OU and over 100 minors, so there is a wealth of choices and options to personalize your degree at OU.
A student may change his/her major after enrolling and most students decide finally on a major within their first year at OU. Davis Program and OU funding may be applied to any degree program offered.
