One of the most state-of-the-art glassblowing laboratories in the country, we are also one of only twelve universities in the U.S. with a glassblowing laboratory, and of those twelve, one of only six that offers a laboratory glassblowing class. The lab is run by Erin Mayberry, who has over ten years' experience and is a long-time member of the American Scientific Glassblowers Society, including being the Director and Chair of the Southwest Section.
The Glassblowing Laboratory offers a variety of services, ranging from custom apparatus fabrication to basic or complex repairs. We also have a large inventory of already-made glass items. We are able to work with Borosilicate (pyrex), Quartz, and Plate, and other types of glass needed can be ordered in as well.
