Each year, 16 OU undergraduates are chosen as Outstanding Seniors for their remarkable achievements in service and leadership for their given college. Gaylord College was proud to announce Jackson Conner as its 2022-23 Outstanding Senior.
“Jackson is an outstanding student not only here at Gaylord College but at OU, and he’s a deserving recipient of the Outstanding Senior Award this year for the college,” Dean Ed Kelley said. “He’s applied himself very well across the college as well as in other activities here at OU. I’m very happy for him and look forward to seeing him progress upon graduation at whatever he does in his career and with his life.”
Conner was a double major in public relations and political science. He served as vice chair of communications for the Gaylord Ambassadors and Gaylord College’s communications intern, as well as Sigma Nu’s 2022 chapter president.
No matter how busy, Conner made time for Gaylord, constantly working to better the organizations he served. Conner was additionally involved in Gaylord College Media where he helped manage and update Gaylord’s website, social media accounts and monthly newsletter.
In assisting the dean’s suite in its communication efforts, Conner was dedicated to leading and serving Gaylord College in more than one way. Those who knew Conner well could speak to his undeniable ability to lead, charm audiences and make all feel welcomed.
“In a college that is 68% female, it is hard to be noticed as a male but Jackson has set the bar extremely high,” Director of Student Services Kathy Sawyer said. “From president of his fraternity to assisting in redesign of Gaylord Extra and our website, I’m so very proud of him and can’t wait to see what he will accomplish in the future.”
