Ahmad Al-Douri is an assistant professor in the School of Sustainable Chemical, Biological, and Materials Engineering at the University of Oklahoma. The Al-Douri group will focus on process systems engineering approaches to challenges in sustainable energy systems and decarbonized industrial processes. To achieve this, we will examine the following three areas and the synergies between them: (1) process systems design and integration; (2) systems safety, risk, reliability, and resilience; (3) sustainability in the process industries.
Before starting at OU, he was a postdoctoral fellow supervised by Prof. Katrina Groth at the Systems Risk and Reliability Analysis (SyRRA) Lab at the University of Maryland. His research at UMD focused on quantifying and addressing uncertainties in the risk assessment of a diverse set of energy systems critical to national and global energy transition efforts, with a focus on hydrogen technologies. He earned his B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. in chemical engineering from Texas A&M University and conducted his Ph.D. research under Prof. Mahmoud El-Halwagi in developing systematic frameworks integrating reliability, availability, and maintainability considerations in the design of chemical processes.
