The Computer Science Student Ambassadors (CSSA) are a group of up to four (4) appointed undergraduate Computer Science (CS) students who serve as paid undergraduate student ambassadors for the School of Computer Science.  CSSA appointees undergo a highly-intensive review process that is very competitive, given that those ultimately selected receive a monthly stipend award for committing to 10 hours per week (0.25 FTE) for the semester in which they serve.  The length of service for a CSSA appointee can be repeated once appointed.  New candidates for consideration qualify by meeting the requirements below:

  • An undergraduate (B.S.) declared major in Computer Science;
  • 3.50 OU/Overall GPA (or as vetted by the CS department);
  • Completion and passage of CS 2334/Programming Structures & Abstractions preferably with a grade of “A” (no less than “B”);
  • No repeated CS courses due to “D” or “F” grades, on academic record; and,
  • Willingness to attend, contribute to, or set-up for events and functions related to the School of Computer Science related to department needs (fairs, projects); guest speakers; industry visits; prospective students; and website management.

If you meet the qualifications above and are interested in being considered, please email cs@ou.edu with your name, OU I.D.#, GPAs, and standing (Sophomore, Junior, Senior).  Review periods for semester appointments take place in late Spring for the subsequent Fall semester and late Fall for the subsequent Spring semester (or as needed).  International students that are selected to be a CS Student Ambassador must take and pass the English Communication Capacity/ECC test before being able to serve; the department (CS) will cover the cost of this exam given the student meets the other requirements above and is ultimately selected.
