The 5th GeoChina International Conference on Civil Infrastructures Confronting Severe Weathers and Climate Changes: From Failure to Sustainability will be held in HangZhou, China from July 23 to 25, 2018. Southern Plains Transportation Center (SPTC), led by the University of Oklahoma (OU), is one of the co-sponsor of this international conference. GeoChina 2018 will showcase recent developments and advancements in design, construction, and safety inspections of transportation infrastructures and offer a forum to discuss and debate future directions for the 21st century. Conference topics cover a broad array of contemporary issues for professionals involved in bridge, pavement, geotechnical, tunnel, railway, and emerging techniques for safety inspections. Participants will have the opportunity to meet colleagues from all over the world for technical, scientific, and commercial discussions. The OU Pavement Materials and Systems Group (PMSG) will present several technical papers at this conference. Hangzhou is renowned for its historic relics and natural beauty. It is known as one of the most beautiful cities in China, also ranking as one of the most scenic cities. It is an industrial city with many diverse sectors such as light industry, agriculture, and textiles. It is considered an important manufacturing base and logistics hub for coastal China. Recent rapid construction in China has provided great opportunities for bridge, pavement, geotechnical, and tunnel engineers to use their knowledge and talents to solve many challenging problems involving highway bridge structures, pavements, materials, ground improvement, slopes, excavations, and tunnels with innovative solutions and cutting-edge technologies.
