Samuel C. Lee
Professor Lee received his B.S. degree from National Taiwan University in 1960, M.S. degree from the University of California, Berkeley, in 1963 and Ph.D. from the University of Illinois, Urbana, in 1965, all in electrical engineering.
Lee worked at Bell Labs at Murray Hill, N.J. from 1965 to 1970, first as a member of Technical Staff and later as a consultant. From 1967 to 1975, he was an associate professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at New York University and the University of Houston. In 1975, he joined the University of Oklahoma as a professor of electrical engineering.
Lee invented the “talking typewriter” for the blind in the late 1970s and received several awards, including the prestigious U.S. Outstanding Achievement Award from the National Society of Professional Engineers in 1980. He has published four books, six book chapters, and over 250 technical papers. He also holds four patents.
