Graduate Assistantships

Half-time graduate assistants typically serve as teaching or research assistants; well-qualified applicants will be considered for fellowships that carry no responsibilities for research or for instructional assistance. The award amount ranges from $20,000.00 to $22,500.00 over 10 months.

Other Department and University support

The department considers participation in scholarly meetings a significant part of the professionalization of graduate students. In conjunction with the Graduate College and the University of Oklahoma Graduate Student Association, the department has a consistent record of success in providing travel funds to students presenting papers.

Other waivers
A significant benefit of a half-time assistantship is that the University pays the premium for health insurance.
