The University of Oklahoma helped pioneer the professional study of the history of science in American universities. Building on a long tradition of talented faculty, creative and dedicated graduate students and outstanding research facilities, the Department of the History of Science, Technology, and Medicine prepares students for professional careers in university teaching and research as well as library and curatorial positions. We explore the role of science, technology and medicine in society while providing the skills necessary for focused concentration on specific topics. The department offers special fellowships in support of graduate study, lively interaction with visiting scholars through the endowed Mellon Fellowship Program, and innovative teaching within an intimate community of scholars.
