Student Experience
Olivia Porter combines her archaeological and environmental interests for her research. She works with Dr. Jennifer Haney at the Oklahoma Archaeology Survey to identify the fuelwood used for fires and earth ovens.
“This line of research can tell us more about environmental conditions during that time, as well as how humans adapted to those conditions,” Olivia said.
Environmental Studies gave her the flexibility to continue pursuing her research and take complimentary classes like botany and geology.
Olivia studies Anthropology, Environmental Studies and Spanish with a minor in Portuguese.
