Intern will be expected to determine situations that require a different role functions and shift roles accordingly to meet referral needs. Interns will be expected to demonstrate knowledge of and ability to select appropriate and contextually sensitive means of assessment/data gathering that answers consultation referral questions. Interns will demonstrate application of knowledge and appropriate literature to provide effective assessment feedback and to articulate appropriate recommendations and effective consultative services (assessment and intervention) in most routine and some complex cases.

Consultation with other psychologists and other professionals is formally advanced through case consultation. Each intern is required to present several formal case conferences to the internship class. A member of the internship faculty leads these case consultations. In addition, each site that comprises the consortium have their own specific case consultation requirements that results in each intern serving in both the presenter and consultant role a number of times throughout the training year.
