Graduate Certificate
OU-Tulsa / Urban Design / Design Entrepreneurship and Real Estate
The Graduate Certificate in Design Entrepreneurship and Real Estate is designed for students without a background in real estate or business that may be working in allied professions, such as architecture, engineering, planning, or facility management or for those wanting to begin a career in real estate practice.
It is suitable for individuals wanting to learn and master the basics of commercial real estate development and brokerage. It also introduces students to principles of entrepreneurship, business generation, and commercialization of design products. The curriculum includes the learning objectives outlined by the Oklahoma State Real Estate Commission.
Students are not required to have a specific degree to take this course, but many have degrees in business, marketing, architecture, planning, and other related fields.
This is the only real estate program in Oklahoma offered by a design-oriented program. Real estate development requires the ability to envision attractive and appropriate buildings for our neighborhoods and communities, while applying financial and management skills to produce feasible pro formas. Students can complete the certificate independently or the certificate can be pursued concurrently with the Master of Urban Design.
