Brenda Lloyd-Jones, Ph.D., associate professor in the department of human relations, received the esteemed 2023 Women of Color Lifetime Achievement Award at the recent Women of Color Expo in Tulsa.
This distinction pays tribute to her achievements, not only in academia, but her outstanding contributions to the Tulsa community. The award honors her vision, commitment, and tireless dedication to being an exemplary agent of change. In addition to her academic responsibilities, Dr. Lloyd-Jones also founded The Mothers Group, Inc., a local nonprofit organization committed to advancing reading literacy and nurturing cultural development among under-resourced children.
In a show of gratitude and respect, a group of master of human relations graduates were Dr. Lloyd-Jones’ nominators for the honor, acknowledging her scholarly contributions and the meaningful impact she has had on their professional journeys.
The award ceremony and luncheon are a central part of the annual Women of Color Tulsa Expo, which honors and celebrates the exceptional accomplishments of African American women. Dr. Lloyd-Jones stands as a shining example of excellence and empowerment. Morris Chestnut, the celebrated actor, was the keynote speaker for this year’s event.
