This award was developed to memorialize Karla Lane, someone who meant a lot to the OU-Tulsa community. It was created to encourage employees to demonstrate the same positive qualities that Lane possessed.
Karla worked for the University of Oklahoma Department of Medical Informatics Clinical Information Systems team for seven years. She was someone who, despite her own more than two-year battle with breast cancer, always asked about and cared for others. Karla was compassionate, extremely kind, and gentle and patient with others, while exhibiting a quiet bravery in her own struggles. She had a special love of animals and cars and enjoyed spending time with her family and contributing to her community. While Karla’s personal traits are something we encourage all to exemplify, she was also a dedicated employee. Karla was analytical, collaborative, diligent, flexible, efficient, effective, and had a great eye for detail. In both her personal and professional life, she had a great attitude and was genuine in all she did. Karla is missed by many, and it is our goal to honor her memory by encouraging some of those same traits that were so exemplified her.
