I enjoy being of service to the people of this great state.
Advocacy is central to who I am. As a Senator, I am committed to ensuring transparency in all policies and processes, whether they are explicitly stated or not. Without transparency, we cannot truly achieve equity. As I enter my second year in this role, responding to feedback I have received, I am prioritizing transparency in the PRC process. To support this effort, I am requesting that HR provide an example of a successful PRC request. This example will assist supervisors, managers, directors, and VPs in better understanding and navigating the process.
I also serve on the Staff Initiatives Committee, where I leverage my expertise in policy design and development. Additionally, on the Inclusion Council, I advocate for greater cross-departmental support and communication, working to break down academic silos.
I enjoy academic writing, political consulting, and volunteering on boards and commissions. In 2020, I worked closely with the Biden-Harris campaign as Director of Policy for Equality Arizona, where I not only helped flip Arizona purple but also played a key role in securing comprehensive nondiscrimination protections for 2SLGBTQ+ Arizonans across all levels of government. I am also the former Chairperson of the City of Norman’s Human Rights Commission. In this role, I championed a citywide ban on conversion therapy and focused on strengthening partnerships among community groups through coalition-building. Currently, I serve on the Board of Directors for the ACLU of Oklahoma, where I advocate for various civil rights issues, including academic freedom and 2SLGBTQ+ rights.
My fur baby, Rex, is a 4-year-old German Shepherd. He enjoys pup-cups, long car rides, outdoors, lying on the couch, watching cartoons, and chasing squirrels.
