The mission of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) is to empower the Hispanic community to realize its fullest potential. SHPE strives to impact the world through STEM awareness, access, support, and development.
Our vision is a world where Hispanics are highly respected and influential as the leading innovators, scientists, mathematicians, and engineers.
Get Involved TodayWe take responsibility for our collective strength and passion by developing communities, building a diverse and inclusive membership, and challenging each other to be our best.
We act on a foundation of service. We commit to deliver the highest levels of quality, integrity, and ethical behavior. We act with empathy, patience, and understanding.
We value formal education and professional development. We are dedicated to continuous improvement and renewal. We learn from successes, setbacks, and each other.
We embrace our diverse cultures and communities, which enable us to adapt, thrive, and persist with optimism.
Our chapter hosts opportunities to develop and strengthen your leadership skills. Our 18-person leadership team is comprised of a diverse group of students that embody the SHPE mission. We offer a First Year Program, where we provide mentorship and shadow opportunities for first-year students.
The annual SHPE National Convention serves as the country’s largest gathering of Hispanic STEM students and professionals, offering a unique opportunity to engage, support, educate and advance the careers of Hispanic students and professionals.
Our monthly socials build community within our student body. Everyone is welcome to attend and network. Our monthly General Body Meetings provide a space for our members to participate in a variety of development opportunities and network with the chapter.
Throughout the semester, we host study nights, scholarship workshops, research panels, and more to support our students. Our Discord is full of resources that will advance your academic and career success.
We support local SHPE Jr. Chapters that provide youth with opportunities to participate in handson STEM activities. Noche de Ciencias is a fun-filled night full of hands-on engineering activities for local k-12 students. These students learn about financial aid and scholarship information to pursue higher education.
