The Graduate Student Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary, and the appointed chair members of the eight committees meet to discuss legislation and ongoing projects additionally as an Executive Committee.
While each SGA Senator is responsible for primarily advocating on behalf of their districts, Senators also participate in one of the standing committees. Please see the descriptions below.
Goutham Sukumaran, Committee Chair
The committee focuses on issues that affect graduate students in terms of their academic missions and goals, such as exam prep week, language tests for international students, and more. The committee also selects the Outstanding Graduate Students for the academic year.
Libby Ryan, Committee Chair
The committee works with SGA to address issues concerning government relations, as well as focusing on discussions on wages, health insurance, facility access rights, and the relationship of graduate students to their departments and the university community.
Ganiyat Shodunke, Committee Chair
The committee addresses all matters concerning international graduate students, strive to improve the relationship between GSS with the international graduate students and other groups, organizations and/or departments, while promoting a positive student experience.
Caden Smith, Committee Chair
The committee identitfies policies and practices of the University, state, nation, and worldwide that promote the most efficient and responsible use of resources. Members recommend and coordinates initiatives to the OU community that promote campus environmental sustainability.
Isabella Chiareli, Committee Chair
The committee manages both the Research and Creative Activities Grants and the Conference and Travel Grants allocation process. When the GSS Ways and Means Chair meets with the Congressional Ways and Means Committee, the SGA Budgetary Committee is formed.
