Greetings,
This year, the energy sector has been buffeted by the twin challenges of an oil price collapse - the third in 12 years - and the COVID-19 pandemic. Yet, amid this environment, the University of Oklahoma Energy Institute strives to continue its mission in the areas of education, research and outreach, and to do so in a way that testifies to growth and value.
Specifically, Hart Energy ranked the institute’s Executive MBA in Energy No. 1 on its list of Top 15 Energy Graduate Programs. EMBA alumni continue to advance in their careers and current students are educated with a curriculum aligned to what the industry expects. For those alumni negatively affected by the economic downturn, the institute is trying to provide support, including through a networking and branding session and the EMBA Alumni Association.
Apart from education, ongoing energy research in the Michael F. Price College of Business seeks to explain realities in the sector. And because of the postponement of the 2020 Energy Symposium, a new form of outreach was born in monthly webcasts that feature influential energy leaders sharing their perspectives on “The Future of Energy.”
While the challenges of this year have affected many people deeply and cannot be overlooked, opportunities for growth, realignment and innovation have presented themselves as well. We hope you enjoy reading about how we continue to produce and inspire Real Energy Leaders.
