What is the FAFSA?

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is your gateway to getting the financial assistance you need to complete your college degree. The FAFSA can qualify you for scholarships and student loans.

The FAFSA opens every October 1*. Be sure to apply early to ensure prompt processing.

It doesn’t cost anything to fill out a FAFSA, and usually takes less than an hour to complete. Remember, to receive aid, you must have full and clear admission into the program.

*Note: For the 2023/2024 academic year, the FAFSA will not open until December due to changes from the U.S. Department of Education.
