Technology and data are pivotal catalysts in fulfilling the university purpose to "change lives". By fostering engagement with the university community, the OU IT department plays a crucial role in shaping the academic, research, healthcare, and service landscapes. This ensures that technology and data are aligned with the university's strategic objectives. This alignment is achieved through a formal IT governance structure. This allows us to establish clear priorities and enables effective delivery of cutting-edge services, implementation of transformative programs, and the operation of state-of-the-art technology. OU IT is committed to the growth and development of a professional workforce that is not only technically proficient but also aligned with the evolving needs of the university community.

OU Information Technology (OU IT) seeks to enable the university to accomplish strategic mission objectives in ways that are:

We believe in reducing technology complexity and sprawl, eliminating silos, and optimizing staffing for greater effectiveness and efficiency. All OU IT systems and services are system-wide, aimed at streamlining and centralizing. This lets us expand capabilities that support the University of Oklahoma as “We Change Lives.”

Mission

OU Information Technology is a driver for change and a key success factor in driving the university's strategic objectives. We provide vision and leadership demonstrating how technology enables the university, and we seek to transcend traditional boundaries extending beyond technology management to create new capabilities that are central to the university's mission and future.

OU IT is committed to robust and cutting-edge measures to protect the university's digital assets, ensuring that security isn’t a barrier to OU's drive for excellence. We safeguard our digital landscapes by optimizing resource efficiency while we engage and support the university community and its systems. Our technical solutions and systems must run effectively and efficiently to be transformative tool for the university.
