The Gaylord College of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Oklahoma is proud to unveil its new television set—a transformational gift from Griffin Media.
“This is a gamechanger for our students,” said Andrea Miller, Dean of Gaylord College. “The set gives our students more opportunities to be creative in their content creation and rivals any academic broadcast set in the nation.”
Previously used by Griffin Media in Oklahoma City, the news set was disassembled, shipped, and reassembled in Gaylord’s studio over the summer. Debuting at the start of the academic year, the set features state-of-the-art monitors, a versatile anchor desk, a dynamic background, and flexible spaces for a variety of anchor positions.
This cutting-edge setup serves students producing OU Nightly, Gaylord’s daily newscast, as well as the college’s sports shows, Sooner Sports Pad and GameDay U. The new set gives students hands-on experience in a professional environment that mirrors industry standards.
“We are so grateful to Griffin Media for their support of our students – making sure they are working and learning in an environment that reflects the industry,” Miller said. “It’s amazing, and we cannot thank Griffin enough for its generosity.”
The new set is in action on weekdays at 4:30 p.m. with live broadcasts on Facebook, YouTube, and Cox Channel 703.
