Gaylord College faculty and doctoral students have recently developed “Public Relations Principles, Origins, and Practice,” a textbook designed to provide students with foundational and practical knowledge in public relations. All proceeds from the book will go toward the Gaylord Student Experience Fund, providing financial support for scholarships, conference travel, and other opportunities that enhance students’ academic and professional growth.
This resource, created in partnership with Cognella Academic Publishing, addresses key topics essential for today’s public relations professionals. Covering areas such as ethics, law, diversity, crisis management, and global PR, the textbook serves as a comprehensive study guide. Each chapter aligns closely with the study guide for the Certificate in Principles of Public Relations (CPPR), a certification for new graduates entering the field. Faculty and graduate students contributed according to their specific areas of expertise, with graduate students co-authoring chapters to deepen their understanding, and faculty focusing on topics aligned with their research and professional backgrounds.
Students are reading “Public Relations Principles, Origins, and Practice” for the first time this semester, and the book will be available for purchase in the coming months.
