Gaylord News is a student powered news organization run by the University of Oklahoma Gaylord College of Journalism and Mass Communication. Since 2018, we have provided deeply reported, award-winning coverage of issues of importance to Oklahoma.
With bureaus in Norman, Lawton and Washington run by professional journalists with decades of experience, we deliver news via dozens of partner news organizations serving 3.4 million Oklahomans, a website and social media platforms (including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and others).
We provide breaking news coverage, in-depth investigative and enterprise journalism. And every presidential election year we put our reporters on the road to Iowa and soon South Carolina to cover the first in the nation caucus and primary while learning side-by-side with some of the nation’s best broadcasters and wordsmiths.
We send our reporters into the job market with real-world skills and the knowledge and courage to shape the future of journalism.
Only Gaylord’s most motivated students are accepted into the Gaylord News Service program, and they go on to land internships and jobs at the nation’s finest news organizations including: The Los Angeles Times, NBC News, CBS News, ABC News, the San Francisco Chronicle, the Houston Chronicle, CNN, the Associated Press, the Chicago Tribune, ProPublica, The Dallas Morning News, News9, Hearst Television, the Austin American-Statesman, The Imprint and more.
