Mel Odom lives in Oklahoma and is the author of dozens of books in many genres, including science fiction, fantasy, suspense, mystery, romance, Western, and horror. He's written original novels based on television shows (The Secret World of Alex Mack, Sabrina, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Roswell) and novels based on screenplays (Tomb Raider, XXX, Blade, Vertical Limit). He's also written novels and gaming material for Wizards of the Coast's Forgotten Realms, Shadowrun, Android, and others.

In addition to being a writer, he is a hobbyist gardener and carpenter.

In 2002, his novel The Rover won the prestigious National Library Association's Alex Award, and in 1995 he was inducted into the Oklahoma Professional Writers' Hall of Fame.
