Jeong-Nam Kim is the Gaylord Family Chair of Public Relations/Strategic Communication and Professor at the Gaylord College of Journalism and Mass Communication, University of Oklahoma.

Kim's research focuses on public behavior and strategic communication management, public relations, and public diplomacy. He is the founding director of Debiasing and Lay Informatics (DaLI) lab. He has 4 books (1 authored and 3 co-edited) and published about 45 journal articles appeared in Journalism & Mass Communication Quarterly, Journal of Communication, Communication Yearbook, Journal of Public Relations Research, Public Understanding of Science, Communication Monographs, Health Communication, Journal of Health CommunicationManagement Communication Quarterly, Journal of Public Affairs, and other journals. 

Kim was the recipient of the AEJMC, PR Division’s Top Downloaded Article Award for the Journal of Public Relations Research and had won several top research paper awards in major scholarly and professional conferences. Besides his research, Kim has been recognized for his mentorship such as winning the Brian Lamb School of Communication’s Outstanding Graduate Faculty Award.

His most recent studies are to understand the nature of lay publics and their information behaviors in social problems and political issues and conceptualize some chances and challenges generated by lay publics for/against civil society.
