Journalist and educator Jay Gilmore is in his second year at the University of Oklahoma. He is a faculty member inside the Gaylord College of Journalism and Mass Communication where he teaches Intro to Broadcasting, Visual Reporting, Media Ethics, Ethics of Strategic Communication, and Race, Gender, Class and Media. This is his twelfth-year teaching
Professor Gilmore joined OU after stops at West Virginia University, University of Memphis and Belmont University. Prior to entering academia, the broadcast veteran worked professionally as on-air talent at TV stations across the country, including stops in Laredo, Texas, Huntsville, Alabama, West Palm Beach, Florida, and Atlanta, Georgia. He was also broadcast talent for Tiger Sports Properties and Bruins Sports Network.
He currently contributes to SoonerVision, the in-house video production arm of the OU Athletics Department. When he is not in Norman, you might find him on-air covering sports in Oklahoma City for the ABC Affiliate, KOCO 5. Professor Gilmore is a published author and has been a ghostwriter for some of the most prominent people in the world of news and sports.
The practitioner has won multiple BEA Festival of Media Arts awards for his coverage of collage athletics.
