Award winning entrepreneur Nia Hill uses her world class producing, writing, directing, and composing talents across mediums.
In theater, she financed and produced Tyler Perry's first musical tour, "I Know I've Been Changed." She then used her live theater touring experience and created a one-of-a-kind film distribution model called "The Momentum Experience." Will Smith, Jada Pinkett-Smith, and Marc Cuban's Magnolia Pictures partnered with Hill for the model's expansion. One of Hill's films, "The Seat Filler," was distributed theatrically through The Momentum Experience and had the highest box office average according to a report published by Variety Magazine.
Throughout Nia Hill's illustrious career, she has launched several successful media and production companies such as The Solstice Group and Strange Fruit Films, which financed and produced a catalog of great content, including BET Networks' acclaimed television competition series "Sunday Best." Hill received an NAACP Image Award and a GRAMMY Award for co-writing the hit song "Jesus," performed by Le’Andria Johnson. Shortly after winning her Grammy, Hill became Creative Director for the iconic Chaka Khan.
Later, she partnered with DreamWorks Entertainment and Paramount Studios to produce and direct a post-Katrina series entitled "One Night Only: The Series," which featured Jennifer Hudson. Hill's commitment to social justice and awareness is often the throughline of her work. The feature-length documentary, "Colored My Mind," took the worldwide film circuit by storm, winning the "Best Filmmaker" award at the prestigious Cannes' AMPAV Film Festival in 2012.
The documentary highlights the journey of five African American women with their autistic children. Inspired by Hill's storytelling, the women organized joint lobbying efforts, resulting in the U.S. federal government committing more than $3 billion for autism research and other services.
Under her Bridge X Media banner, she has partnered with the estate of one of literature's most prolific authors, Octavia E. Butler, along with Oscar Award-winning producer John Sloss, to build a transmedia universe called "The Octaverse."
Nia Hill's business acumen, sense of social responsibility, and transcendent talent have firmly positioned her as one of the entertainment industry's most visionary leaders.
