Jennifer J. Hicks is director of audience development at The Wall Street Journal, where she and her team work to reach millions of readers, viewers and listeners with high-quality journalism. Previously, she served as the Journal's deputy chief news editor, guiding daily news coverage and managing the newsroom’s digital platforms and partnership operations. Jennifer joined the Journal in 2004 and has been a key driver of its digital growth and transformation. She’s held a number of senior editing roles, including establishing the Journal’s digital operations in London, running the news hub in New York and leading the first product team in the newsroom as a deputy managing editor on the masthead. Jennifer graduated from the University of Oklahoma and has a master’s in journalism from Columbia University. She was named the Distinguished Young Alumni by Gaylord College in 2010 and was inducted into the OU Student Media Hall of Fame in 2016. At Columbia, Jennifer was the recipient of the New Media Award. She’s been an adjunct professor at both Columbia and CUNY’s graduate journalism schools and sits on the Board of Visitors for Gaylord College. She’s a member of the Online News Association, a Knight New Media fellow and an alumna of the Dow Jones News Fund.
