Admissions Procedures

When all application materials have been received, the admissions committee will consider all relevant materials and apply the admission criteria within the constraints of the faculty's capacity to enroll more students. Decisions regarding admission will be made by the faculty as a whole. No doctoral student shall be admitted who does not have a majority vote of the program area faculty and who does not have a faculty member willing and available to serve as committee chair. Announcement of admissions decisions should be mailed approximately one month after the application deadline.

At the time of admission, a faculty member shall be assigned as a temporary advisor to provide initial program advising to the student. It is expected that during the first year of the student's enrollment, a permanent doctoral advisory committee shall be selected by mutual faculty and student consent. The chairperson and a minimum of two additional members from the program shall serve on the committee. Additionally, the committee shall have at least one additional member from outside the Department of Educational Psychology.
