The OU Writing Center is a pedagogical service that supports OU undergraduate and graduate students as well as members of the Norman/OKC community. The primary goal of our services is to help writers learn something they can use in the future.

Our Commitment

The OU Writing Center welcomes all writers and does not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, nationality, language background, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability.  We consider difference to be a seed for learning, writing, and a just society.

Need a space to write?

Writers are welcome to utilize the Writing Center's space anytime we are open as a space to write. We have couches and armchairs, as well as traditional tables, and plenty of outlets.

Generally, the Writing Center is open in Wagner 280 Monday through Friday from 9am to 5pm. Check out Hours page and social media for the most up-to-date information on Center closures.

Looking to request the Writing Center as a speaker or workshop facilitator for your event or class?

Would you like the Writing Center to speak to your group about the services offered at the WC? Are you interested in a workshop on a writing-related topic?

The Writing Center offers both informational visits and workshops by request and based upon staff availability.

Our staff can speak to new students, returning students, first-year students, senior-level students, instructors, GTAs, faculty, staff, clubs, and other OU organizations about how the Writing Center can support the academic journeys of all OU students.

Note: All requests must be submitted in advance and are subject to our staff availability. Informational requests require at least 5 business days notice while workshops require several weeks.

We are currently accepting requests for Spring 2025.
