Gaylord Assistant Professor Elected Vice President of SWECJMC

Gaylord Assistant Professor Nate S. Fisher, Ph.D. was recently elected vice president of the Southwest Education Council for Journalism and Mass Communication (SWECJMC) for ’25-‘26 at the organization’s annual symposium, held on the campus of the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque in November.

As vice president, Fisher will perform duties including administration of the annual academic paper competition for presentation at the next annual symposium. Fisher will then ascend to the position of SWECJMC President for the ’26-’27 period, and will help host the yearly symposium in Norman in fall 2027.

“I am honored to be considered for this position by my peers in SWECJMC. In addition to its focus on research and pedagogy for members, the organization has done so much to help graduate students and early-career scholars in our field,” said Fisher. “I look forward to serving SWECJMC and its current members and leadership, and continuing the great work of those that preceded me on the board.”
