NORMAN, OKLA. – Gaylord College in conjunction with the University of Oklahoma Foundation is proud to host Baxter Holmes, ESPN Senior Writer and OU alumnus, for a deep dive into the world of sports journalism.

The event is slated for 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, November 15, 2023, in the Regents and Associates rooms on the third floor of the Oklahoma Memorial Union on OU’s Norman campus. Admission is free and the event is open to the public.

Oklahoma's sports media veteran Berry Tramel will moderate the session where Holmes will share insights from his career, spotlighting his in-depth NBA projects, features and stories.

Holmes earned a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from Gaylord College in 2009. He was actively involved with OU Daily, the independent, student-produced newspaper. Holmes covered OU men's basketball, football and an array of other campus events. Additionally, Holmes served as the Sports Editor for a semester.

Since joining ESPN in 2014, Holmes has gained prominence for his detailed reporting as a beat reporter covering the Lakers and, now, as a Senior Writer focused on the NBA. He has held previous roles in other publications, such as The Boston Globe, where he covered the Boston Celtics, and The Los Angeles Times, where he spent 3 1/2 years as a sports reporter. His work has been honored by the New York Press Club, the Deadline Club, the Associated Press Sports Editors, the Professional Basketball Writers Association and the James Beard Foundation. He was also a finalist for the 2022 Livingston Award for National Reporting.

Seating will be limited, and reservations are recommended. To reserve your spot, please visit https://link.ou.edu/a-conversation-with-baxter-holmes.
